| On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee the Autobot seeks refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie, on the brink of turning 18 years old and trying to find her place in the world, soon discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns that this is no ordinary yellow Volkswagen.
Bumblebee premiered on December 3, 2018 in Berlin and was released in the United States on December 21. It received positive reviews, with critics praising its action sequences, Steinfeld's performance, Knight's direction, visuals, and the 1980s setting.[11] The film was successful at the box office, albeit the lowest-grossing film of the franchise, grossing $468 million worldwide against a budget of $102-135 million. A sequel, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, is to be released on June 9, 2023. |
